My Story

My name is John Householder, and I am a senior at St. Mark’s School of Texas located in Dallas. I am 17 years old, and I am an aspiring researcher,  inventor, and leader passionate about urban planning and improving urban infrastructure. I am also a national-level competitive volleyball player (Excel 17 Red National Team, setter).

I have been studying, exploring and researching urban planning issues throughout high school, and wanted to share my findings, including my research on the Dallas water situation, my summer project with Urban Planning Professor Dr. Stefan Al, as well as my current project exploring an urban renewable energy project.

I'm very honored and grateful to be featured in the local newspaper. Below is an article that was published in late September 2024. My coach texted me to show up to practice early because we had an interview, which I thought was really cool. When I met the journalist, I thought he was writing an article about our team but towards the end, I realized that was not the case. It was awesome getting to talk with the newspaper and share some of my experiences and learnings, and I'm super grateful that they decided to interview me!

Householder Wants to Make the World a Be

I was also very pleased to be selected for the Environmental Sciences Award at St. Mark's. This is usually awarded to one senior per year so I am grateful to have received it as a junior.
